In April 1999 I travelled to New York City and attended “Where Lyric Tradition Meets Language Poetry: Innovation in Contemporary American Poetry by Women”, a conference held at Barnard College.
It was here that I unexpectedly met fellow Sydney-based poet, song-writer and musician, Kate Fagan, who was at the conference to present a paper on Lyn Hejinian.
Kate and I immediately began writing to one another, a correspondence we continue to this day.
