This volume consists of a selection from the “Empty Texas” series, which in its complete form is central to the subsequent book, Empty Texas (Paper Bark Press, 1999).
In its early, draft form, the “Empty Texas” series was known as “The Role of Texas, 1967-1997″. Poems from the series were first published by John Tranter in the first issue of Jacket Magazine (October 1997), and by Guy Shahar the fifth issue of The Cortland Review (November 1998).
Three further poems from “Empty Texas” also appeared in the tenth issue of Jacket Magazine (October 1999).
